PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The main objective of this project is to protect the loads from damages with low and high voltage based on predefined voltage limits using tripping mechanism.

The voltage fluctuation of main supply in homes and industries causes a considerable damage to sensitive electrical devices. The proposed system is enhanced to protect the electrical loads by a tripping mechanism.

This project uses timers and a rectified power supply. In this system, the timers are used as window comparator for detecting the under and over voltages.  A load is controlled by the relay mechanism that is interfaced to the circuit.

If the input voltage falls above or below the predetermined limits, then the 555timer will give a signal to activate the load through a relay untill the output remains till a certain range beyond which it cuts off the supply to the load. A lamp is used as a load in this project.

The concept in future can be extended by integrating an alarm, which gives a sound when voltage fluctuations occur. It can also be interfaced with a GSM modem to convey alert message to the user via SMS to take appropriate action.
