PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The main scope of this project is to transfer electrical energy in 3D space from a power source to electrical loads without any physical contact.

This project can be used for charging those batteries those cannot be connected electrically. For example, patients with re-chargeable batteries in pacemakersare required to be operated every year to replace the battery. This project is designed to charge a rechargeable battery wirelessly.As the charging of the battery is not possible to be demonstrated,a LAMP is used in place of the battery, whichglows through wireless power.

The wireless power transfer is possible by high frequencies. The proposed system uses a high frequency transformer and LC tuned coils. This high-frequency transformer is used for developing high frequencies. The LC tunedcoils are used for linking magnetic fluxes from primary to secondary on resonance. The LAMP is connected to the secondary circuit for indicating the wireless power.

For developing high frequency supply from 230v 50Hz AC to 12v 25KHz AC supply, a high-frequency transformer is used in this set up. The output is fed to a tuned coil forming as primary of an air-core transformer. The secondary coil develops a voltage of HF 12voltAC. Thus, the transfer of power takes place by the primary (transmitter) to the secondary (receiver), which is kept separated in air with a considerable distance (say 10-20cm). Therefore, the power received from the primary transmitter by the secondary coil is utilized to run the load.
