PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The main goal of this project is to detect the over-speed of the vehicles on highways with the arrangement of speed sensing circuit and to intimate the traffic authorities using alerting system.

Proposed system designed with a 555 timer operates in astable mode. In this project, the speed sensing circuit is arranged with IR sensors and are placed on either side of the road at a fixed distance for detecting the speed of the vehicles while the rays are obstructed .

Predetermined time limit is set with sensors at two different points with some distance between them for the vehicle to cross these points. If the vehicle crosses this distance in a time which is less than the predetermined fixed time limit, then the buzzer gives an alert to the traffic authorities and presents that information on the 7-segment display.

This concept in future can be extended by integrating a camera with the system that captures the image of the number plate of the vehicle and sends it to the traffic authorities.

A:  There is a provision to adjust the speed limit provided with the project.
Q:  What is the function of 555 Timer?
A:  Here one 555 Timer IC is used in astable mode and the others are used in monostable mode.
Q:  Can the speed information in KMPH be transmitted to remote server for speed monitoring?
