PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The main objective of this project is to control a load by a touch-sensitive switch by a user on the touch plate using a relay to switch on the load for a fixed-time duration through a 555 timer.

The proposed system uses a 555 timer and a rectified power supply wherein the 555 timer is used for delivering the logic high pulse for a fixed-time interval. The load is controlled by the relay which is connected to the 555 timer through a transistor. The touch sensitive switch is connected to the 555 timer for giving the input logic signals.

Whenever the 555 timer is triggered by a touch plate, then the 555 timer delivers high-logic pulses for a fixed-time interval as decided by the RC time constant connected to the timer. This output drives the relay to turn on the load for that duration after which it switches off automatically.
