PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The main goal of the project is to detect rash driving on the highways based on calculatingfixed time with two sensing devices placed at a certain distancebetween them and to givean alert to the traffic authorities in case of any speed violation.Nowadays,accidents are frequentlyoccurringon highways due to over-speeding vehiclesresulting in many deaths.

In the present system, to detect rash driving,policemenuse a handheld radar gunto record avehicle speed. If the vehicle speed exceeds the speed limit, then they inform about the speed violation tothe nearest police station in order to stop that over-speeding vehicle.As this process is ineffective and therefore, to overcome this problem – there is a need to develop a device to detect the rash driving based on the time.

The proposed system uses timers and a rectified-power supply. The rash driving is detected by the IR sensor, which is interfaced to the circuit. A seven segment display set is connected to the circuit with the help of decade counters for displaying the information. A buzzer is used for giving an alert to the user.

Predetermined time limit is set with sensors at two different points with some distance between them for the vehicle to cross these points. If the vehicle crosses this distance less than the predetermined fixed time limit, thenthe buzzer givesan alert to the traffic authorities and displays the information on the 7-segment display.

This project in future can be extended by integrating a camera with the system which could capture the image of the number plate of the vehicle in order to sendit to the traffic authorities.

A:  There is a provision to adjust the speed limit provided with the project.
Q:  What is the function of 555 Timer?
A:  Here one 555 Timer IC is used in astable mode and the others are used in monostable mode.
