PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The main goal of this project is to develop a robotic vehicle which is controlled in all four directions  wirelessly using standard TV remote.

The proposed system uses an IR receiver which is interfaced to a microcontroller of the 8051 family.  The transmitting end uses the TV remote in which the IR transmitter sends the commands (RC5-based coded data) within a specific range of frequency (38 KHz).

If any button is pressed on the remote, then this system sends corresponding infrared coded data to the microcontroller. Then the microcontroller compares it with the stored data, if it matches, then microcontroller releases  respective pulses to switch the motor driver to control the motors in forward, backward, left, and right directions.

This project in future can be enhanced by using DTMF technology. With this technology, we can control robotic vehicle using one's cell phone. This technology has an advantage over long communication range as compared to the line of sight communication in the IR technology.
