PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The main concept of this project is the designing of a RFID based system to implement payment based car parking process through a card by RFID technology, which provides an ultimate solution for drivers and private parking owners.

The proposed system uses a microcontroller of the 8051 family and a rectified-power supply. In this project, a set of sensors are interfaced to the microcontroller with the help of transistors for detecting the entry and exit of a vehicle. Four switches are interfaced to the microcontroller wherein two switches work as pseudo RFID cards and the other two represent for feeding  amount of a virtual  cards such as 300 and 500, respectively. A motor is interfaced to the microcontroller through an H-bridge switch. The motor interfaced through H-bridge operates in clockwise and anti-clockwise directions for opening and closing the gate.

Whenever any vehicle enters into the gate for parking space, this system asks to swipe a card. Here in this project a virtual card is replaced with a switch. Pressing of a button collects money from the card to open or close the doors based on the microcontroller commands. The microcontroller also gives the information about  the parking lot which is unoccupied, with the help of an IR sensor, and this information is displayed on a 16*2 LCD display. So, this is an easy process for parking to reduce traffic in the parking lots of public places like theaters, multiplexes, large-scale industries and commercial enterprises. In this project, switches are used in place of real RFID tags for minimizing the project cost.
