PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The main goal of this project is to avoid a stampede through a buzzer notification in places wherein large public gathering takes place. In this system, a large number of switches are activated by the pressure instead of sensors in that path.

Political rallies, religious places, and pilgrim places witness large gathering and sometimes lead to stampede due to various reasons. This proposed system is enhanced to give a warning message to the people in the public place before occurrence of any stampede.

This proposed system uses a microcontroller of the PIC16F series family and a rectified-power supply. In this system, number of switches are arranged in the form of rows and columns instead of sensors for detecting the stampede. The warning is indicated by the buzzer connected to the microcontroller through a transistor. A 16x2 LCD display is interfaced to the microcontroller for displaying the information.

 When a certain number of switches get pressed because of concentration of a large mob at particular zone and exceed the predefined number, then the microcontroller generates an output to switch on a buzzer alerting the authorities about a possible stampede. The status is also displayed on the LCD which is duly interfaced to the microcontroller.

This project in future can be enhanced by interfacing a GSM modem to the microcontroller, so that a warning message is sent to the concerned authorities via SMS.
