PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The forecast is destined to pattern for the sequence of the 3 phase supply. It is very significant to know the phase sequence primarily for 3-phase motors. For example, if a 3-phase motor is used for pumping, in which any phase reversal unintentionally ensuing in wrong sequence could force the motor to run in a wrong direction, which could lead to the dry run of the motor that may progresses to a permanent damage.

A voltage drop arrangement is made wherein a direct 3-phase AC supply of 50/ 50Hz,rectified  is fed through after duly stabilized by zennor diodes to a logic circuit comprising of NAND gates and OR gates to perceive the proper sequence of RYB by a series of pulses of fixed duration. In the event of changing the progression from RYB to, for instance, YBR during the fixed-time duration the combination of NAND and OR gates develops an output with a missing pulse. For triggering an input signal to 8051 series microcontroller, this  missing pulse is fed through a timer to drive LEDs placed in a circle from the out put of the microcontroller. During the proper sequence, the LEDs are made to run clockwise by the program  as there is no triggering received. In the absence of a sequence, the triggering is done and will be indicated by LEDs running clockwise for some time, and then anti-clockwise for the next time, and so on indicating out of synchronization.  

The DC which is required for the circuit is supplied from a Step-down transformer. A   bridge rectifier is interfaced to convert AC to DC and to regulate the generated power for the functioning of the components that are implanted in the circuit with regulators and filter capacitors.

Fostering this envisions can be heightened by implementing a relay to the circuit for  cutting off to the supply to load.

Q:  What is phase sequence checker?
A:  It checks the order of phase R-Y-B
Q:  Why it is needed?
A:  It is needed to run motor in desired direction

Q:  What happens when any phase is out of sequence?
A:  It will cause the induction motor to rotate in reverse direction, and incase it connected to a pump, this will lead to reverse pumping.
