PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The aim of this project is to design an automatic door-locking and unlocking system through an Android application device. This method is very convenient as one doesn’t need to get down from the car to open or close the gate physically.

Nowadays opening and closing of garage doors in the homes, hospitals and other places involves human labor. In this proposed system, the opening and closing of a garage door is achieved by using an Android application with a unique password entered through a touchscreen of the Android application devices.

The proposed system uses a microcontroller of the 8051 family and a rectified power supply. In this project, a Bluetooth module is interfaced to the microcontroller using Rx and Tx pins to transmit and receive the information. A motor is connected to the microcontroller with the help of a driver IC to open or close the door.

Once the two devices are paired, a user can send the control signals through the Bluetooth attached to the system. If the user enters a password in the Android application, the data is sent to the microcontroller. The received data is compared with the stored (password) data in the microcontroller. If it matches, then the application performs the corresponding operation in the microcontroller.

This project in future can be implemented by interfacing it with an EEPROM, i.e., a non-volatile memory so that the password can be changed by the owner.
