PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The main intention of this project is to protect electrical loads from any damages occurring from over-voltage and under-voltage conditions by breaking the power supply to the electrical loads by means of a tripping mechanism thatisolate the electrical loads.

In everyday life we often experience the fluctuation from AC mains supply in homes and industries; and due to this, the sensitive electronic devices could be easily damaged. Therefore, it is very important to activate a tripping mechanism for sensitive loads in the shortest possible time. This proposed system would trip the load off in the event of the input voltage falling below or above a set value.

The proposed system uses a set of op-amps and preset devices wherein the op-amps are used as awindow comparator for monitoring the input voltages such as over voltage or under voltage, and a set of preset resistors are used forsetting the fixed voltages.A lamp isused as a load in this project which is connected to the relay contact to operate it. A buzzer is connected to the circuit to givean indication whentripping takes place.

The comparators deliver an error outputwhenthe input voltage is beyond or below to the preset voltages. A relay is then operated to cutoff the load for safety reasons. It is extended by integrating an alarm, which sounds when the tripping takes place.
