PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The main objective of this project is to develop a circuit to detect the under voltage and over voltage conditions so as to protect the electrical loads by a tripping mechanism based on predetermined voltage limits.

 The proposed system built with 555 timers operates in bistable mode. Whenever the input voltage falls above or below the pre-determined voltage limits, then the 555 timer develops a signal to cut off the load by a relay for safety reasons. In this project, a lamp is used as a load for an indication purposes.

 The future scope of this project can be extended by integrating an alarm that sounds when voltage mal-fluctuation occurs. It can also be interfaced with a GSM modem to convey alert messages to the user via SMS – for the user to take appropriate action.
