PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The main intention of this project is to test the life of the industrial loads by the number of on and off cycles entered using the keypad.Then the loads can be turned on and off using relays until the count doenreaches to zero.

The proposed system uses a microcontroller of the 8051 family and a rectified-power supply. The inputs are given by the matrix keypad, which is interfaced to the microcontroller. 7-displays are connected to the microcontroller  for displaying the number or count. The load is controlled by the relay, which is connected to the microcontroller through a transistor.

Once the specific count is entered fromthe keypad, then the counter starts decrementingfrom the set number to zero and turns the loads on/ off by the relay, simultaneously.Finally, the count reaches zero, then it remains switched off.Thecount is displayed on the 7-segment display.

This project in future can be implemented by using mono-stable triggering device to stop the counter in the event of failure of the load before reaching the zero. Thus, the exact life cycle of the load can be estimated.
