PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project is designed to detect and indicate the water level in a overhead tankusing awater- level sensor placed at the bottom of the tank, andto display the water level on  a7-segment display.

The proposed system isdesigned with  a priority encoder and a few discrete components. The priority encoder is used to detect the water level in the tank, which is interfaced to the circuit through the decoder. The 7-segment display isconnected to the circuit for displaying the water level, digitally.This circuit works with a rectified-power supply.

This project uses a priority encoder thatacts as awater-level sensor; the sensor is placed at the bottom of the tank to find the water level in the tank. The priority encoder has 9-active –low inputs thatindicate water level and display the water level in the tankdigitally on the7-segment display using the decoder. This project in future can be enhanced by interfacing it with a buzzer to alert when the water level falls below the minimum level.
