PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The main concept of this project is to design a beacon flasher which glows on and off with the pulse width modulation, which is generally, used in shipyards, sea shores, etc., for guiding the navigators to their destinations.

The proposed system uses a microcontroller of the 8051 microcontroller family and a rectified power supply. Here the beacon flash light is connected to the microcontroller with the help of a MOSFET via a transistor device.

The intensity of the beacon flash light is controlled by varying the duty cycles from a DC source. The preprogrammed microcontroller generates corresponding pulses at periodical intervals as per the program to switch on and off the beacon light with the MOSFET device.

This project future can be enhanced by using a high-power 230V lamp in combination with a solid state switching for better visibility.
