PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The main goal of this project is to design an automatic door locking and unlocking system by using anAndroid application device.This method is very convenient as one need not have to getdown from ones car for opening or closing the gate physically.

Nowadays opening and closing of garage doors in homes, hospitals and other places involve human labor. In this proposed system, the opening and closing of a garage door is achieved by using an Android application with a unique password entered through atouch screen of the Android application devices.

The proposed system uses a microcontroller of the ATMEGA family and a rectified power supply. In this project, a Bluetooth module is interfaced to the microcontroller using Rx and Tx pinsto transmitand receive the information. In this system, alamp is connected to a relay contact in place of a motor; and this relay is connected to the microcontroller through a transistor for switching it. A simple buzzer is interfaced to the microcontroller for indication.

Once the two devices are paired by Bluetooth, the user can send the control signals through the Bluetooth module attached to the system. If the user enters the password in Android application that data is sent to the microcontroller. The received data is compared with the stored (password) data in the microcontroller– if it is matched, thenthe corresponding operation in the microcontroller is performed.

This project infeature can be implemented to interface EEPROM, i.e., a non-volatile memory so that the password can be changed by the owner.

A:  Any mobile phone which has Android OS can be used in this project.
Q:  How can I connect blue control?
A:  One can connect blue control by pairing and then connecting, which is explained in detail in the operation procedure provided along with the kit.
Q:  How much distance does Bluetooth support?
A:  Bluetooth can support distance about 50 feet
Q:  Why is only an Android smart phone used?
A:  It provides wide number of free applications and is also an open source OS. Hence Android smart phone is being used.
